For Sale, contact seller

Gun control

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

For Sale Contact Seller is not an opinion piece; its purpose was to investigate the casual and commonplace trading of small arms in the US after the tragedy of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings on December 14, 2012.

Throughout the piece the viewer is presented with a clip of the closing scene of the film The Great Train Robbery (1903) where the protagonist fires a gun point blank towards the camera and consequently the audience causing a great sensation at the time.

Over the looping film clip short segments of text are presented advertising guns for sale. The text was automatically gathered from gun trading websites and is displayed as found using a sentence (full stop punctuation mark) as the break point.

In later screenings of the piece two additional film references were added to create the triptych version.
