Emptyset (artist reference)

Emptyset is a multidisciplinary production project founded by James Ginzburg and Paul Purgas exploring the sonic possibilities of electroacoustic and computer music, architecture and performance.

Emptyset: Medium (2012)

Medium was recorded on location at Woodchester Mansion near Stroud in Gloucester, UK. The video was made by Clayton Welham and Sam Williams using single frames from footage shot at Woodchester Mansion. All footage was broadcast, processed and captured before editing, a technique developed to mirror Emptyset's 'chain of sound' processes.

Emptyset: Signal

27 February 2015 – Paradiso, Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Emptyset talk about their new project Signal, a radio-based performance that works directly with ionospheric propagation as a live sonic sculptural process and compositional tool. Signal uses real-time radio broadcasting and receiving, bouncing a signal across the ionosphere to integrate atmospheric noise into an analogue signal chain. It examines the transmission of basic sound sources and explores their ornamentation through environmental and atmospheric conditions.
